Edgar County Bank & Trust Co. was founded in 1873. Our early history was shaped by struggle – we were hit hard by the stock market crash of 1929, but were able to survive the Great Depression and eventually recover. Things changed in 1968, when a new group of stockholders bought the bank – stockholders who weren’t connected to the community, and didn’t have the same devotion to the people they served. Those people responded first by taking their business elsewhere, and then by gathering together to buy the bank back in 1975. Ever since, we’ve done our best to never stray from what our community wants and needs. Thanks to the ongoing support of the customers we serve, we’ve continued to grow alongside the Central Illinois community, and we’ve expanded beyond Edgar County. As a result, Edgar County Bank is now Prospect Bank: a name that reflects who we are today, and our plans for the future. Since our founding, Prospect Bank has worked to help the communities and people of central Illinois to bank smarter. We’re committed to service, and our mission, our vision, and the pledge we make to each and every individual, family, and business we work with shows it.
