​IT Technician


​Starfire Industries has an immediate opening for an IT Technician to track, coordinate, establish, and perform information technology support and troubleshooting for both hardware and software needs. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, exercise a hands-on, proactive approach, and be willing to assist others as needed.

Starfire is a leading manufacturer of IMPULSE® pulsed power modules and RADION™ plasma sources for thin-film deposition systems, and nGen® portable neutron generators and Centurion® compact particle accelerators for industrial, medical, and diagnostic imaging. We are a fast-paced, small-company atmosphere with an opportunity to collaborate with an incredible team, contribute to multiple products in development/production and make an impact.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain detailed electronic records for all facilities and equipment related IT and costs associated with IT
  • Assisting employees with computer problems
  • Installing software and hardware on users' computers
  • Setting up workstations for new employees
  • Troubleshooting printing and scanning problems
  • Running and troubleshooting Ethernet cabling throughout the building
  • Setup and maintenance of audio/visual equipment in conference rooms
  • Assist in tracking IT inventory
  • Potential to assisting our CIO with server and network administration
  • Identification of IT concerns/issues for future needs and expected investment
  • Creation and management of long-term equipment tracking system
  • Provide cyber-safety trainings at scheduled intervals or as-needed
  • Responsible for the cyber-security envelope
  • Reports to the Director of IT
Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Operation and administration of Microsoft Windows workstations
  • Usage of common Windows applications (e.g. Office suite, web browsers, PDF readers)
  • Comfortable taking apart computers for troubleshooting or replacing components
  • Experience troubleshooting printers
  • Knowledge of computer networking hardware and protocols
  • Experience with audio/visual equipment and cabling
  • Two+ years of experience
  • Proactive, results-driven, motivated
  • Pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
Desired Qualifications:
  • Administration of Microsoft Windows servers
  • Configuration of network routers, switches, and access points
  • Knowledge of Cisco IoS
  • Debugging electronics, circuit boards, and communications lines
  • Experience with regulatory compliance
Applicant must be a U.S. Person and eligible work on restricted U.S. Government projects or obtain security clearance.
