Job Summary

In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Educational Assessment, the Director of Programmatic Assessment leads the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives across the college related to the collection, assessment, and reporting of educational data and program outcomes. The incumbent manages regular and systematic collection and organization of data and reporting at all curricular (e.g., course, phase, etc.) and institutional levels to assure compliance with appropriate Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) standards and needs of the unit. This director autonomously develops and leads projects and initiatives through to implementation. This position will initially focus on initiatives within the MD program, with an opportunity to expand its scope into other degree-granting programs within the college.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Programmatic Assessment Analysis and Reporting

  • Plan, develop, and implement evaluation systems. Design processes for the successful implementation of evaluation initiatives. Oversee the administration of focus groups, evaluation delivery, and the dissemination of evaluation data to key stakeholders.
  •  Create systems to collect, manage, clean, and analyze data for reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide detailed data analysis and reports to internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), American Medical Association (AMA), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), National Residency Match Program (NRMP), US News and Report, and other agencies as necessary.
  • Review and analyze programmatic assessment literature, surveys of other medical schools, and local data sources to explore best practices and educational issues such as curriculum evaluation, student progress, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and outcomes assessment.
  • Serve as the primary contact and support to faculty governance committees and educational taskforces/workgroups for evaluation and CQI needs. Liaison with faculty and staff to ensure all stakeholders needs are met.
  • Develop, compile, and present clear reports of educational data for a variety of stakeholders, including standing committees within the College. Able to clearly explain complex educational evaluation data to audiences of all levels.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for evaluation information using reports from respective databases.

 Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Project Management

  • Identify, develop, and implement comprehensive action plans to support the compliance, operational, and strategic objectives of the college.  Communicate with all appropriate parties and serve as a liaison for constituents to ensure that project objectives, scope, roles, and expected deliverables of each project phase are clearly defined and implemented.
  •  Maintain CQI project tracking database with current status reports, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Provide leadership for the development and administration of small and midsize programs and special projects relating to continuous quality improvement (CQI) across all areas of the college. Manage project resources and develop and implement work plans with project team members.
  •  Implement CQI project priorities, collaborate with project team members to establish goals and objectives, and partner in the development and implementation of the project or initiative.  Lead project teams to effectively execute CQI project deliverables within schedule and assigned resources.
  •  Prepare and present regular CQI project progress reports to the Assistant Dean of Accreditation and Educational Assessment, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, college leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Relative to CQI-specific projects and initiatives, act as a point of contact with college units and staff as well as project-related campus groups.  Partner with internal and external units, committees, project teams, and other stakeholders to create and manage work plans, reports, metrics, and supporting documents to fulfill project objectives.
  •  Support enhanced coordination, cooperation, and communication across teams and within the college as it relates to CQI project management efforts.  Support systems of accountability, including oversight of cross-functional work groups to provide a collaborative, participative, and transparent structure for project initiatives.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree.

    Three years of demonstrated experience in the following areas:

    • Medical school programs
    • Educational Accreditation
    • Experience in project management or closely related activity

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree, PhD, or EdD. Graduate coursework in Education, Program Evaluation, Assessment, Public Health, Biostatistics, Psychology, or other related degree field.

    Previous experience with projects related to development and management of strategic and/or operational projects and initiatives is preferred. Experience supporting institutions during the accrediting process.

    Project management certification (PMP) preferred.

    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/16/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
