Job Summary
The Utilities Services Coordinator has a dual role of working for Utility Services and Prairieland Energy Inc. (PEI). The primary mission of Utility Services is to provide staffing and management for PEI, a university-related organization that procures approximately $40 million annually in natural gas and electricity for the University of Illinois System (University). This position reports to the Associate Director of Commodity Planning and Procurement (PEI Assistant Vice President) and is responsible for performing energy procurement related tasks, including assessing need and monitoring use of energy commodities throughout the University of Illinois System.Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare operational reports in support of system utilities and power plant activities.
- Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets for fuel procurement analyses.
- Support reliable campus operations by monitoring electric demand, MISO day ahead entries, and gas nominations; perform gas balancing and communicate with plant staff, staff, suppliers, and market advisors as needed.
- Import fuel and utility data for report preparation and analysis.
- Support sustainability efforts for the University of Illinois System, including research into sustainability policies and duties related to renewable energy transactions in the Midwest Renewable Energy Tracking System (M-RETS) or related system such as reconciling, receiving, and retiring Renewal Energy Certificates.
- Support development of procurement materials (i.e. RFPs) for fuel and various energy contracts.
- Monitor actual power plant and solar generation asset activity in eDNA, an enterprise data management platform used for collecting and analyzing real-time operational information.
- Analyze and support budget requirements and fuel supply plans for utility operations.
- Oversee and audit reporting provided by the external market advisor to verify that the information provided is accurate.
- Develop and oversee administration of fuel databases.
- Develop variance analyses for utility related budgetary, financial, and operational results.
- Analyze and prepare supplier transaction confirmations.
- Other duties and responsibilities appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience. (NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with procurement solicitation such as Requests for Proposal.
2. Professional experience in a complex, energy-related organization or utility company is preferred.
3. Familiarity with federal/state energy regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of spreadsheet applications, databases and other analytical processing tools and software.
2. Strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively present information and respond to colleagues.
3. Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
4. Ability to multi-task and produce accurate, detail-oriented work to meet stringent deadlines.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible.
We
