Job Summary

The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, located in the College of Applied Heath Sciences, seeks to hire two outstanding faculty members in the area of Health Administration. The positions are nine-month, non-tenure track appointments at the rank of Instructor, Teaching Assistant, Teaching Associate or Teaching Full Professor (with the potential for annual re-appointment). Successful candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in working in a healthcare setting and/or have a strong record of teaching/instructional experience. The ability to teach energetically and with passion is a must as well as the ability to potentially investigate, research and teach several key topics under the MHA rubric. Some courses will be taught in tandem with another professor and therefore the ability to partner and collaborate is essential. We additionally seek individuals who will bring new and creative ideas to our team of instructors and professors as we desire to see significant growth in both the online and in person programs over the next few years. Teaching and clinical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, revenue cycle, health management, healthcare quality and operations, leadership, health law and ethics, human resources, organizational behavior, finance, health economics, health policy, health technology, health analytics, patient communication, and clinical terminology.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: an MS, MHA, or equivalent degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with 1) a Ph.D. degree, 2) at least 5 years of experience in a clinical setting, 3) online teaching experience. Applicants will meet the qualifications for the rank of instructor, Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, or Teaching Full Professor at the University of Illinois.

 The MHA Program (https://www.ahs.illinois.edu/mha-overview): The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign established the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program in 2017. Located within the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health, the MHA program supports major campus initiatives to provide innovative leadership in health administration research, education, and service regionally, nationally, and internationally. The Illinois Master of Health Administration program combines the benefits of a small program with the resources and opportunities of a leading research university. This growing program allows students to be at the cutting edge of newly developed classes and curriculum, with instructors who are leaders in the field.  The program size allows students to easily connect with the supportive faculty and be surrounded by a tight-knit cohort of peers. The program welcomes students from a wide variety of disciplines and training to join their diverse cohort of MHA students. The two-year, 52 credit hour, residential Health Administration degree is modeled after general business administration curricula; giving students educational training in finance, leadership/management, quality and strategic planning. The MHA degree includes a 200-hour internship, where students apply their training to assist an organization of their choosing. The MHA program believes in creating a supportive learning environment by establishing student cohorts, allowing students to progress with the same classmates throughout their time in the MHA program.

 

The Department of Kinesiology & Community Health (KCH), http://kch.illinois.edu): The mission of the Department is to advance and disseminate knowledge related to health, rehabilitation, and human movement using an interdisciplinary approach. Through the integration of high-quality research, instruction, and outreach programs, faculty scholars within KCH are leading initiatives that address pressing concerns of our diverse society such as prevention and management of chronic disease as well as maintenance of health and well-being across the lifespan. Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 9 month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/16/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience.
